Once everyone is onboard, we will take you south-eastwards towards the south coast of Iceland for a day full of amazing views and experiences.

Seljalandsfoss

Our first stop of the day is Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland's most iconic waterfalls. This 60-metre-high waterfall is unique in that visitors can walk behind the cascading water, offering a memorable experience. Just remember to wear water-resistant clothing, as there is considerable spray from the waterfall.

Skógafoss Waterfall

A little further east along the coast and at the foot of the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano is the breathtaking Skógafoss Waterfall. This powerful cascade drops 60 metres and spans 25 metres in width, creating a stunning spectacle. You can climb to the top for breathtaking views or explore the base to feel the waterfall's mist. Skógafoss is not only visually impressive but also rich in legend and history, making it a must-visit stop on our journey. Don't miss the chance to capture unforgettable photos at this iconic location.

Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

Next, Discover the unique beauty of Reynisfjara. This world-renowned black sand beach is famous for its impressive basalt columns, powerful Atlantic waves, and the striking Reynisdrangar sea stacks. Whether you're marvelling at the geological formations or listening to the legends surrounding the area, Reynisfjara offers a fascinating experience.

Vík Village to Our Accommodation

We continue our travels through the picturesque village of Vík, nestled beneath the Mýrdalsjökull Glacier, onwards to our accommodation. The drive from Vík is a stunning journey along Iceland's southern coast. You'll traverse dramatic black sand deserts and pass through fields of green, moss-covered lava. The route includes views of majestic glaciers, such as Vatnajökull, Europe's largest glacier, and the scenic Skaftafell National Park. You'll cross glacial rivers and picturesque countryside, with the landscape constantly changing. Our accommodation is just east of the glacier lagoon, Jökulsárlón, which we will explore in detail on day two.

Northern Lights

We stay overnight in a country hotel, providing an ideal environment to view the Northern Lights due to minimal light pollution, as there is no city nearby. From September through March, if the skies are clear and the aurora forecast is favourable, we can watch the magic of the Northern Lights directly from the hotel. Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and their appearance cannot be guaranteed.

Day 3: The Realm of the Glacier

Today, prepare for a day full of adventure as we explore the realm of the great Vatnajökull Glacier, Europe's largest glacier.

The Crystal Blue Ice Cave

The crystal blue ice cave is a remarkable phenomenon. Each winter, new caves are formed by the glacier's constant melting and freezing. The journey into an ice cave offers an exceptional chance to capture the blue light that passes through the glacial ice. You'll be enveloped by remarkably deep shades of blue, caused by the compression of the ice. During our exploration, we will encounter deep cracks known as crevasses, astonishing moulins—nearly cylindrical vertical shafts carved by meltwater from the glacier’s surface—and remarkable icefalls, akin to waterfalls but made of ice.

Travel from our hotel to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. From there, we'll drive off-road to the Vatnajökull glacier in a modified super jeep. During this scenic drive, you will witness the best of the amazing glacial terrain. Upon arrival at the ice cave, we will provide you with the necessary glacier and safety equipment, and our experienced guides will lead you into this magical blue world. Our local guides are highly professional and knowledgeable about ice caves, ensuring you are in good and knowledgeable hands. After approximately an hour of exploring the caves, we will head back to Jökulsárlón.

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

We will also take time to further explore the breathtaking glacier lagoon. This 200-metre-deep lake is filled with floating icebergs from the nearby Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, an outlet of Vatnajökull. Its striking blue waters and surreal landscapes make it a must-visit destination, offering stunning views and unique photographic opportunities.

Diamond Beach

Diamond Beach is a stunning black sand beach just across the road from Jökulsárlón where icebergs from the lagoon wash ashore. The ice fragments glisten like diamonds against the dark sand, creating a striking and otherworldly landscape. It's a also popular spot for photographers and nature lovers.

Return to Reykjavík

We travel back to Reykjavík, with an estimated arrival time of around 20:00 – 21:00. The itinerary on both days depends on road conditions and the weather. The guide may decide to skip a visit on day 1 and schedule it for the return journey to Reykjavík on day 2 instead.

Day 4: Good-bye Iceland

Make your own way to Keflavík Airport. Airport transfers can be arranged through us.
